Bury Me on a Cloudy Day
a poem written upon my cousins death
Bury me on a Cloudy Day;
beneath an old Oak Tree.
Let it rain throughout the night,
wash the errant pains.
Burn me on a Winter’s Night;
let fires warm my soul.
Blame the tears on Wayward Smoke,
feel my one last kiss.
Eulogize my life in Prose;
weep in poetry.
Sing Songs! Both Happy and Sad,
loud and out of key.
Time for sleep, my Coffin Deep;
no words left to speak.
Years Behind and Years ahead,
I will wait for you.
Bury me on a Cloudy Day;
Burn me on a Winter’s Night.
