From Story to Script
A Behind the Scenes look at making a film.
Be warned, while this may seem like a cool look behind the curtains on how indie film is made… you are about to witness one of the most messed up, blasphemous stories ever conceived. The cherry on top? The script was done by the deplorable indie filmmaker Jon Devlin, known for Erecting a Monster and Phallacies… and know for showing his dick in every movie he is… he’s also known as one of my best friends.
I wrote the story Zealot years ago and tweaked it until I was able to get it into my horror anthology. I showed Jon and he loved it. A story of broken faith and misguided sexual attraction… it’s sort of funny, I wrote that story for him way before I ever met him. He asked if he could make an unrated rendition of my story and I enthusiastically said yes.
I thought my story was dark… his had me feeling sick. To me that means perfection. Jon and I aren’t high class artists. We will laugh at bathroom graffiti more than any highbrow film that rolls out and if we can’t scare our audience, we aren’t too grown to say no to a gross out. Simple, yet effective. If you can’t scare your audience, you shock them. If you can’t shock them, you gross them out. If you can’t do either of that, then the least you can do is make them laugh.
I love to write. I love to tell stories. Sometimes I want to get a message out there and I layer it into something a little extreme. The free post this week is the full story I wrote about a girl who becomes sexually aroused by the thoughts of Jesus due to an abusive childhood wrought in religious zeal. The paid post will be Jon Devlin’s adapted script to that story. He’s in pre- production currently but I can promise you that the world is not quite ready to see it… at least not all at once. Perhaps, you can peak between your fingers as you cover your eyes.
My friends… you fiends… Please enjoy our filth!
